Malanga A root vegetable that looks similar to a coconut, with potato-like flesh. Masa Corn tortilla dough.
Malanga The word used in the Spanish-speaking parts of the Caribbean for Taro root (or a close relative of Taro.) It is prepared by either boiling and mashing like potatoes, or slicing and frying into chips.
malanga = tanier = tannier = tannia = yautia Notes: Like taro and cassava, malanga is used in tropical countries in much the same way that potatoes are used in more temperate climates.
