Measuring cups are used in cooking to create accurate portion sizes of liquid and dry ingredients in recipes. Most measuring cups are made from metal, glass or plastic and use the standard 8 ounce 'cup' as the basic unit of measurement.

Fill a clean glass measuring cup with 1/2 cup warm water (110ºF to 115ºF). Add one (1) teaspoon granulated sugar and one (1) full packet of your yeast. Stir to dissolve the contents completely.
