The trouble with MSG is that most people summarize that adverse reactions to it are to the glutamate component. There are many other glutamate-based additives that do not have to be labeled as containing MSG.

MSG - MSG stands for Monosodium Glutamate. It is a white crystalline compound used to enhance flavor.

MSG (monosodium glutamate) - MSG is the sodium salt of glutamic acid. Glutamic acid, or glutamate, is one of the most common amino acids found in nature.

The umami taste is conveyed by several substances naturally occurring in foods, including glutamate, better known in the west as monosodium glutamate (MSG). The artful use of umami can make mediocre fare taste better and good food taste great.

Tomatoes are rich in vitamins and antioxidants. They contain MSG. The seeds are high in fiber and bitter-tasting tannins. The green parts are mildly poisonous, which is not surprising, as tomatoes are closely related to both nightshade and tobacco.

Add jalapeno, bagoong, salt and MSG and simmer for another 5 minutes.
Add the coconut cream and continue to simmer until oil comes out of the cream.
Serve hot with plain white rice.

Most health magazines advocate turning up your nose at fat-laden dishes such as Kung Pao chicken. While Americanized Chinese food is known for its MSG content, authentic Chinese cooking is far better for you.

Put the eggs and fry until browned on both sides.
