Fill muffin cups 3/4 full with batter. Sprinkle tops of muffins with a little sugar and the almonds. Bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes in the pan.

Cool in muffin cups on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Remove from muffin cups; serve warm. Makes 12 muffins.

Muffin tins treated with a non-stick coating are handy, because muffins slide out easily and there is no need for paper muffin cups or non-stick cooking sprays.

Gently fit each stacked square into a greased muffin cup. Spoon filling into center of each cup. Bake according to recipe.
