Plum tomatoes, also called Roma tomatoes, are egg-shaped tomatoes available year-round in most grocery stores. They are canned whole in their juice, sometimes with a fresh basil leaf added for flavor.

PREPARATION:

Italian plum tomatoes, also called Romas, are ideal for tomato sauce and other cooking uses. Small cherry or grape tomatoes are an easy addition to salads.

1 cup peeled, seeded, and diced plum tomatoes (fresh or canned)
