Rack
1. An open metal round or rectangular wire rack used to cool cakes and other baked goods, after they have been removed from the oven, eg remove the cake from the oven, place on a cake rack and leave to cool.

Wire rack
A metal rack with feet to raise it slightly above the surface on which it is placed. Wire racks are invaluable in baking to allow freshly baked cakes, loaves and biscuits to cool before storing.

Pot rack. They’re not cheap, but if your kitchen suffers from lack of storage, you’ll appreciate this splurge as much as we do. Every time you pull down a skillet, rather than rifling through cupboards, you’ll feel grateful.

Cooling rack:
A rectangular grid of thick wire with "feet" that raise it above the countertop. They are used to cool cakes, cookies, and other baked goods when they come out of the oven.

V rack proponents say a V rack helps keep the meat in a more uniform shape so that it will cook more evenly. See what I mean about the definition of roasting being pretty simplistic? Everyone has their preferred method.
