Santa Claus melon = Christmas melon Notes: This is distinguished mostly by its long shelf life--you can store an uncut Santa Claus melon for several months.
Other forms of muskmelons include the Christmas or Santa Claus melon. These melons, with yellow-green splotchy skin, are so named because they peak in December. Winter melons have a light green skin and are served cooked, sometimes in a soup.
