A small pair is ideal for snipping small items, such as green onion tops. Kitchen scissors or poultry shears are better for large, tough jobs.

With scissors, make about ten diagonal cuts down each long side of the triangle, cutting to within about 1 inch of the center. Shape a small piece of reserved dough into a trunk at bottom of tree and remaining dough into a "pot.

Use the scissors to cut one-inch strips at a diagonal, on each side of the meat. When you are done, begin at one end and tuck the end piece up and over the meat.

Similar to a scissor in design, this kitchen tool snips off the top of a soft-boiled egg so it can be eaten while still in the shell.
