This tangy, smooth, spreadable cheese is as delicious in dips, frostings, and all kind of desserts as it is spread on bagels. Lower fat versions are available, but the texture is usually more gummy than creamy.

Mascarpone is a very soft, spreadable cheese which resembles cream cheese in texture although it tends to be very smooth, and a pale cream in color.

Since it is a spreadable cheese, it is an excellent topping for crackers and bagels. It is also a good cheese for sandwich spreads, hors d'oeuvres, as a base for snack dips, desserts and dessert frostings.
