Remove the hull, or 'cap,' from the top of the strawberry with a paring knife or a strawberry huller, a small tweezer-like utensil with rounded ends.
To ease removal of green stems, use a paring knife to carve around it or purchase a special device called a strawberry huller, designed to quickly pluck the leaves from the berry while removing minimal flesh.
