The strip steak, sometimes called New York strip steak, is another one of the best cuts of steak. In Britain, it is called "porterhouse steak." Like the filet mignon, it is an extremely tender cut of meat, and comes from the short loin of the cow.

Depending on the place, the name today is regularly used as a synonym for a club steak, a New York strip steak, a boneless rib-eye steak, and several other cuts.

For example, as a general rule, I like to cook a 1 1/2-inch New York Strip steak for a total of ten minutes.
