Sugar snap peas and snow peas can be eaten raw, but cooking improves their flavor. Both require very little cooking (steam snow peas for just three minutes and sugar snaps for about four minutes). Overcooking ruins their character.

Vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, asparagus, and sugar snap peas benefit from blanching when they're going to be served raw with dips, or when they'll be added last minute to stir-fries.

Serve with teriyaki shrimp and Birds Eye Broccoli, Carrots, Sugar Snap Peas & Water Chestnuts.

They can be stored in the crisper section of the refrigerator for 2 - 3 days. Possible substitutes: Sugar snap peas, another pea with an edible pod, can be substituted, but they won't have the same flavor.

This sauce is a beautiful topping for any steamed or roasted vegetable, but it is especially good on roasted asparagus, fresh zucchini or summer squash, or on a pile of steamed sugar snap peas.
