Tiramisu - An Italian dessert which is very popular in the US. Tiramiso consists of sponge cake, soaked with an espresso syrup and layered with a sweetened mascarpone cheese and chocolate sauce.

Tiramisu - Pronounced tih-ruh-mee-SOO. Literally translated it means "pick me up" or "carry me up". It is an Italian dessert that is sometimes called an Italian trifle, although it has a much lighter texture than a regular trifle.

Used for such famous desserts as Tiramisu and Zuppa Inglese.
Savoie (biscuit de) (Fr.): sponge cake.
Savoyarde (Fr.): in the style of Savoy, usually flavored with Gruyère cheese.
Scald: 1.

"When I saw all the other Tiramisu recipes posted, I was hesitant to add my one. But after looking through them, none were quite like mine. This is the only Tiramisu recipe I have ever made, I found it so good I didn't need to seek out another.

Mascarpone: A soft Italian cheese (similar to cream cheese). An important ingredient in Tiramisu.
Melon: Family of fruits. All have a thick, hard, inedible rind, sweet meat, and lots of seeds. Common examples: watermelon, cantaloupe.

Some are made using ground sweet and bitter almonds, baked with egg and sugar, others from ground apricot kernels. They are a popular after-dinner treat, served with sweet wine and/or liqueurs. They can be used as a base for trifles and tiramisu.

Mascarpone Tiramisu wouldn't measure up without this sweet and flavorful cream cheese product of Italian origin that's made by adding citric acid to heavy cream.
