Pure vanilla extract is extracted by soaking vanilla beans in alcohol. Imitation vanilla extract has a vaguely similar flavor but is entirely artificial and often manufactured from the paper industry's wood-pulp by-products.

Traditional vanilla ice cream is also likely to contain small flecks of vanilla beans, but French vanilla is often strained to remove these flecks.

Boil the milk till it becomes thick.
As soon as it is cooled add the sugar and vanilla essence and blend well using a blender or mixie.
Cool it in the refrigerator and again blend well.
