Are waffle irons available in different shapes and sizes?
A. Waffle irons come in different sizes and shapes but all work just about the same.

A waffle iron is a specialized kitchen appliance consisting of two hot plates usually joined with a hinge. A special flour and egg batter is ladled onto the bottom plate and the top plate is closed over it.

Chicken and waffles is one of those dishes that just screams Southern comfort. Whoever invented fried chicken and waffles was equal parts culinary genius and madman.

Waffle - a light, thin batter cake baked in a special grill called a waffle iron. Basic batter is the same as for pancakes. This crisp, quick bread has a honeycombed surface of pockets that ideally hold puddles of syrup.

Waffle irons transform thin batter into crisp, golden waffles. Electric or stove-top models, with or without a nonstick finish, are available. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for specific heating guidelines.
