I have been given some black walnuts. How do I open them? A regular nut cracker seems to have no effect.

Directions
1. Heat the butter in a 12-inch nonstick skillet. Add the onion and garlic and cook until they're tender, stirring occasionally.

Grind walnuts into paste.
Beat egg yolks with sugar and add walnut paste and bread soaked in milk together with melted butter.
Mix all the ingredients well.
Whisk egg whites, fold them into the mixture.
