Water is a common chemical substance that is essential to all known forms of life.[1] In typical usage, water refers only to its liquid form or state, but the substance also has a solid state, ice, and a gaseous state, water vapor.

Watermelon's official name is Citrullus lanatus of the botanical family Curcurbitacae and it is a vegetable. It is related to cucumbers, pumpkins and squash.
The first recorded watermelon harvest occurred nearly 5,000 years ago in Egypt.

Watercress
'A natural superfood' Watercress is a dark green leaf of the mustard familiy commonly used in salads and soups, and is widely acknowledged to be a 'superfood' with high levels of nutrients, minerals and health-protecting compounds.

Water Bath
The French call this cooking technique "bain marie." It consists of placing a container (pan, bowl, soufflé dish, etc.) of food in a large, shallow pan of warm water, which surrounds the food with gentle heat.

Method :
Cut out a square from the melon as it is
& keep aside.
Put sugar in the melon & cover back with the cut piece.
Refrigrate for 3-4 hrs.
Take out & Pour into glasses. Serve chilled.

Acidulated Water
The addition of vinegar or lemon juice to cold water to prevent the discoloration of fruits and vegetables such as artichokes or cauliflower.
To make, add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice or vinegar to every pint of water.

Water provides for gluten formation and yeast reproduction. Without water (either straight water or as a component of another liquid, such as milk), all you have is a pile of flour, salt and yeast.

WATER BATH : A term used primarily in canning. Jars of food are placed in a rack inside a large pan. Enough boiling water is poured into the large pan to cover the jars.

Water-insoluble dietary fibre is not digested nor absorbed by the digestive tract, but passes through it largely intact. It should never be eaten plain, but mixed in food, otherwise it may cause an intestinal blockage.

water-bath can: To preserve the contents of filled jars by submerging them in boiling water in a large kettle and heating the jars to an internal temperature of 212 degrees for a specific period of time. Used to preserve high-acid foods.

Water boils at lower temperatures, causing moisture to evaporate more quickly. This can cause food to dry out during cooking and baking.
Because of a lower boiling point, foods cooked in steam or boiling liquids take longer to cook.
