It is also known as the Barbados cherry, Puerto Rican cherry, and the West Indies cherry.
Acesulfame-K: an artificial sweetener that contains no calories and is most often used for cooking or baking, since it retains its sweetness when heated.

It produces small edible fruits which strongly resemble cherries, leading to the common alternate names of Barbados Cherry, Puerto Rican Cherry, and West Indies Cherry. The fruits are widely consumed in South America in fresh and preserved forms.
