Wheat germ is the embryo of the wheat kernel. It is removed during the milling of white flour but is left intact in whole-wheat varieties. Wheat germ is sold raw or lightly toasted.

Wheat germ - It is the inner part of the wheat kernel. It is a concentrated source of vitamins, minerals, and protein. It adds a nutty flavor to baked goods and can be sprinkled over breakfast cereals, yogurt, or fruit.

Wheat germ Vitamin and mineral-rich layer of the wheat berry. Excellent source of vitamin E. Look for it toasted or untoasted. Add to pancakes and other baked goods as well as meat or vegetable loaves.

Farina is a milled cereal grain, usually made from wheat germ and the inner parts of wheat kernels called the endosperm. Sometimes rice or potatoes can be milled and called farina too, but typically it's considered wheat cereal.

The fat contained in wheat germ can turn rancid within three to four months of milling, so it’s best to clear out a small corner in your refrigerator or freezer; kept here, your whole-wheat flour should last six to eight months.
