aspect ratio [hardware] The ratio of the width of an image to its height. The aspect ratio of a standard computer monitor is 4:3 (rectangular).

If the aspect ratio of the physical display and the selected resolution are different, many different things can happen. On some LCDs, the monitor will stretch or squash the image to fill the entire display.
To reduce ill-conditioning in simulations as well as discretization errors, finite elements methods require triangular meshes of bounded aspect ratio.

One pixel is written for each cell value, so if ew_res and ns_res differ, the aspect ratio of the resulting image will be off. NOTES A few ppm file comments are written: the name of the GRASS raster file, resolution, etc.
The image is zoomed to its proper aspect ratio. Within the display you can zoom in and out by selecting a rectangle on the image and then pressing the F2 or the F3 key, respectively.
W.Behrmann (1910); standard latitudes 30°, aspect ratio 2.356:1 Trystan Edwards (theoretical constraint, 1953); approximate standard latitudes 37°24', aspect ratio 1.983:1 ...
Note that Preserving Aspect Ratio will keep the image with the same proportions. The Height is selected to be offset from the title box by 0.1 in on the top and bottom. The Position sets its location also as the offset.
The relationship between the surface distance represented by degrees of latitude and longitude. Moving north or south from the equator, where the aspect ratio is 1:1, the difference between the two increases.
