Cartesian Co-ordinate System |
  |
The Cartesian co-ordinate system and the system of latitude and longitude of the earth are examples of coordinate systems based upon Euclidean geometry.
As discussed earlier, satellite systems measure the relative positions of receiver and satellites using an ECEF Cartesian co-ordinate system.
A fixed reference framework superimposed onto the surface of an area to designate the position of a point within it. The CARTESIAN CO-ORDINATE system and the system of latitude and longitude used on the Earth's surface are common examples.
