GIS CGMChain Code

chain code
[data capture] A method of drawing a polygon as a series of straight line segments defined as a set of directional codes, with each code following the last like links in a chain.

chain -- a directed nonbranching sequence of nonintersecting line segments and (or) arcs bounded by nodes, not necessarily distinct, at each end.

Chain rule
Suppose that f:Aâ†'R is a real-valued function defined on a subset A of Rn, and that f is differentiable at a point a. There are two forms of the chain rule applying to the gradient.

chain reaction A self-sustaining nuclear reaction, made possible when neutrons released by fission of some atoms in a nuclear reactor strike other atoms, causing them to fission as well.

Markov Chain Models
The underlying tenet of a 1st order Markov process is based on the probability that the system will be in a given state (land class) at some time t2 is deduced from the knowledge of its state at time t1.

* Supply chain management. Users can optimize the efficiency of goods movement along the supply chain by analyzing accumulated data regarding the location, movement, and status of those goods.

Joining a chain of segments
If we want to be able to make our field green, we will need to take the perimeter that we made and turn it into a closed face.
It is critical that the Topological Pick modifier be set to "Object" at this time.

The LBS Value Chain
We heard about what's going on the current market for LBS:
- the market is now moving forward in high gear
- users are now finding value in LBS
- new applications and new styles are emerging ...

Food Chain Movement of energy through the trophic levels of organisms. In most ecosystems, this process begins with photosynthetic autotrophs (plants) and ends with carnivores and detritivores.

ISO - 19119 service chain A sequence of services where, for each adjacent pair of services, occurrence of the first action is necessary for the occurrence of the second action ISO 19119.

chain Unit of length equal to 66 feet, used especially in the U.S. public land surveys. The original measuring instrument (Gunter's chain) was literally a chain consisting of 100 iron links, each 7.92 inches long.

Some of the molten rock reaches the surface to form a chain of volcanic islands (and sediment) called an Island Arc (Indonesia is an example).

This program allowed the user to compute TDs, gradients, SNRs, and GDOP for a selected triad from a selected chain, using transmitter and chain data, ground conductivity estimates, and noise estimates.

The hot spot is stationary relative to the plate above it, so it leaves a chain of islands as the plate slowly drifts.

Two other methods of graphic input are polar coordinates and Freeman Chain code. Within a polar coordinate system points are defined using the angle from the origin and the distance from the center.

A case in point is a recent pilot project for a major retail chain undertaken by HyperParallel Corporation of San Francisco, California. HyperParallel focuses on data analysis of large data sets, such as those generated through retail sales.

Facility, Asset, and Supply Chain Management
GIS network tracing can determine and optimize product routing, as well as provide data management and reporting support for sophisticated product transaction management systems.

The assigned elevation value "flows" from one pixel to the next, assigning the specified elevation value to each pixel until there are no more un-tagged pixels in the chain.

A curved chain of islands that rise from the sea floor, usually near a continent. The convex side usually faces the open ocean, while the concave side usually faces the continent, e.g., the Aleutian Islands in Alaska; volcanic arc- syn.

Multipath normally occurs near large reflective surfaces, such as a building or structure with a reflective surface, a chain-link fence, or antenna arrays.

archipelago
An archipelago is a group or chain of islands clustered together in a sea or ocean.
Arctic Circle
The Arctic Circle is an imaginary circle at latitude 66°30' N, around the north pole.

The adage "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link" applies here; the accuracy and precision of measurements, maps, and models from a GIS are only as good as the least accurate and precise data source.

This is done as often as necessary to form a chain of triangles connecting the origin point to the Survey Control in the place needed.

Control Segment
A worldwide chain of monitoring and control stations that control and manage the GPS satellite constellation.

With regard to computerized spatial databases, a cartospatial feature is a point, line, arc string, chain, polygon, symbol, text or other form of spatial entity.

Utilizing a digitized network, line segments and nodes are chained together to determine the minimum distance between point A and point B and thus measure the efficiency of vehicle (or other phenomena) paths.

Changed the TIFF output format for 24-bit RGB image so it's more compatible with other software packages.
