DATA INPUT TECHNIQUES
Since the input of attribute data is usually quite simple, the discussion of data input techniques will be limited to spatial data only. There is no single method of entering the spatial data into a GIS.

Data input is usually the major bottleneck in the development of a GIS database, and converting hard-copy data from maps, aerial photographs, printed reports, and field notebooks is often the least desirable option because it is tedious and time consuming.

It's often helpful to have someone else validate data that you have entered as typos are more easily detected by a fresh pair of eyes. If your ~ tools allow you to define validation checks, use them, but remember that - like spelling checkers - they cannot catch all possible input errors.
