The data type: Point, Line or Area
Type of topology which the file contains, such as line, network, closed area or arc-node
Details of any automatic vector processing applied to the theme (such as snap-to-nearest-node) ...

Abstract data types are purely theoretical entities, used (among other things) to simplify the description of abstract algorithms, to classify and evaluate data structures, and to formally describe the type systems of programming languages.

1 Data types
From a modeling perspective, the data used to interpolate gridded snow-water equivalent falls into two categories: point and line data.

Vector Data Types
Vector data is composed of discrete coordinates that can be used as points or connected to create lines and polygons.

A final data type, termed binary, identifies things that exist only in two states, such as land/water, present/absent and good/bad.

Data types
This section focuses on map algebra operations available for gridded datasets, such as those implemented in ESRI's Spatial Analyst extension for ArcView. Similar operations are available in other grid-based GISes, such as GRASS.

Data type - The characteristic of columns and variables that defines what types of data values they can store.
(Ex. Numeric - for numeral characters only, and Character (Char) - for all other keyboard characters).

Change the Output data type to INTEGER. These USGS DEMs are stored in integer meters, so storing the grid as integer is appropriate.
The new layer will be added to the data frame.

Other data types, such as vegetation/fuel, can be integrated with elevation data to dynamically display areas with dense and highly flammable vegetation.

Raster data type consists of rows and columns of cells, with each cell storing a single value. Raster data can be images (raster images) with each pixel (or cell) containing a color value.

Out of the GDAL data types, the closest match for GRASS CELL, FCELL and DCELL rasters are respectively Int32, Float32 and Float64.

It is likely that data types required for a particular GIS project will need to be transformed or manipulated in some way to make them compatible with your system.

In R2V, each vector data type is editable using their own editing functions under the Edit menu. For example, use the Edit/Line Editor to edit lines and polygons and the Edit/Point Editor to edit points.

A data type referring to text columns in an attribute table (such as NAME). Choropleth A choropleth map portrays a statistical surface with area symbols (colours), which represent the collection regions, inferring uniformity within these units e.

data integrity Maintenance of data values according to data model and data type. For example, to maintain integrity, numeric columns will not accept alphabetic data. See referential integrity. data model 1.

Definitions: Abstract Data Type The basic information construct used by the GeoMobility Server and associated Core Services. Consists of well-known data types and structures for location information.

Oracle9i gives application developers control over user-defined data types, not only enabling the capture of domain logic and processes associated with the data, but also enabling customization of the manner in which the server stores, retrieves, ...

The spatial components of geographic data can be represented by three data types: points, lines, and areas (Fig. 1).

The most basic and interesting geographical data type is the digital elevation model (DEM). A Digital Elevation Model is an ASCII or binary file that contains only spatial elevation data in a regular gridded pattern in raster format.

The vector and raster data types are called as feature and coverage respectively. The geometry of the spatial data is defined for the 'Well-Known-Types' (WKT). Their instances are called 'Well-Known-Structures'.

The information holdings in a GIS include a broad range of data types in various media. Each should be documented, indexed, and cataloged for searching and sharing.

ProjectWise Connector for Oracle adheres to the native spatial data types inherent in Oracle Spatial, ensuring full interoperability with other Oracle-compliant applications.

Search by keywords or data types to find data, symbols, and maps quickly.
Browse and add data directly from Catalog window in ArcMap.
Simplify map creation and production with streamlined sketch-based Desktop (2D/3D) and Web editing.

In an object-oriented approach, there are three data types and five operating characteristics that are most important basic elements and operations. The data types include object, class, and instance.

Fully developed data models describe data types, integrity rules for the data types, and operations on the data types. Some data models are triangulated irregular networks, images, ad georelational or relational models for tabular data.

In the end, RRLP support was limited more or less to the native assistance data types such as global Klobuchar and NeQuick models for the ionosphere. The same approach was also mapped to 3GPP TS 25.

This introduction to GIS, GIS Data Types and Metadata, will also introduce some of the documentation that you will rely on to learn more about how to use GIS. The tools we will use today are documented in these books published by the software maker: ...

Next, examine this interferogram that shows the distinctive color banding such a data type presents. The two islands are West Maui and Lanai in the Hawaiian chain.

Looking at the data you can determine the data types required for each column of data. These data types are required when running the CREATE TABLE query.

Composite Mapping: Overlaying and combining data types from two or more map overlays to create a map displaying a combination of information from different thematic maps.

Metadata: Data about data. This often includes the data's source, accuracy, data type, projection, date of origination and other general descriptions.

This is the format you'll find most computer based mapping systems displaying. The coordinates are stored internally in a floating point data type, and no additional work is required to print them as a floating point number.

[data quality] The degree to which the data in a database is accurate and consistent according to data model and data type.

Vector: One method of data type, used to store spatial data. Vector data is comprised of lines or arcs, defined by beginning and end points, which meet at nodes.
