DGMDigital Geospatial Metadata. DGM was approved in June 1994 by the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC). DGM describes the specifications for the content, quality, condition, and other characteristics of metadata (data about data).

The Content Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata are presently under final review for adoption as ASTM Content Specifications for Digital Geospatial Metadata (D5714).

A publication authored by the FGDC that specifies the information content of metadata for digital geospatial datasets.

The GIS standard for documentation for digital spatial data shall be the Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata, developed by the Federal Geographic Data Committee.

Each Q3 Flood Data file is accompanied by a metadata file that meets the Federal Geographic Data Committee's guidelines for metadata as contained in the Content Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata.
