dissolve route events
[ESRI software] In linear referencing, a procedure that combines event records in tables where there are events on the same route that have the same value for specified fields.

In GIS, dissolve is an aggregation process in which a new map feature is created by merging adjacent polygons, lines, or regions that have a common value for a specified attribute.
Three polygons before the dissolve operation.

# check column names: v.info -c polbnda_italy # dissolve based on column attributes: v.dissolve input=polbnda_italy output=pol_italy_regions col=vmap_nam ...

dissolve: The process of removing boundaries between adjacent polygons that have the same values for a specified attribute.
DLG : Digital Line Graph files from the U.S. Geological Survey ...

Dissolve: Removing boundaries between adjacent polygons having the same value for a specific attribute. Combining polygons that would otherwise be assigned the same color or hatch pattern in a thematic map display.

dissolved load Amount of material water carries in solution.

distributary channels Stream channels that fan out from the upstream point of the delta and carry the sediments that build the delta.
...

The Dissolve
The dissolve procedure is very computationally intensive. It is best to begin by selecting just the polygons that you are interested in to begin with.

dissolve boundaries between polygons with same value of "cuttable" attribute
merge polygons into larger objects
City zoning example ...

Dissolved Oxygen (DO)
Assuming initially that the water from rainfall is saturated with oxygen (100% saturation level), ...

Dissolve - The process of automatically eliminating the boundary between polygons that have identical attribute data. This process is usually carried out to remove the neatlines of digital maps after several maps are joined.

The merge, dissolve editing functions play important role by the feature selection based on the generalized attributes. Some other editing functions as rotate, pan, cut, copy, paste, erase, snap, etc. are useful for developing designed objects.

Generalization, also called map dissolve, is the process of making a classification less detailed by combining classes. Generalization is often used to reduce the level of classification detail to make an underlying pattern more apparent.

Solution (1) Form of chemical weathering where rocks and minerals are dissolved by water. Materials entering the mixture can alter the chemical nature of the solution and can increase the strength of this weathering agent.

Dissolve Barriers - An option in the buffer wizard to treat a soon to be created buffer as either one object or several
Feature - A digital representation of something in the real world.

The rock being dissolved is normally limestone but can also be salt, gypsum or dolostone.
Solution:
A chemical weathering process in which a material is dissolved. Also, the transport of dissolved ions by the water of a stream.

April 16 - President Lucio Gutierrez of Ecuador declares a state of emergency in the capital city and dissolves the Supreme Court.

In one (the Miller/Urey experiment), simple organic molecules were produced from atmospheric and dissolved constituents in the oceans that began to survive less than 4 billion years ago. Another cites organic molecules in carbonaceous meteorites.

Brine Water that has a large quantity of salt, especially sodium chloride, dissolved in it. Brine Mining Well A well used for injecting fresh water into geologic formation comprised mainly of salt.

NOAA scientists transform the dissolved oxygen measurements into contour maps, which identify areas of low oxygen, or hypoxia. During the cruise, as the ship receives the data, NCDDC generates new maps and immediately publishes them on the Web.

In a vector based GIS, boundaries between polygons of common reclassed values should be dissolved to create a cleaner map of homogeneous continuity. Raster reclassification intrinsically involves boundary dissolving.

This committee was ordered to dissolve itself by the incoming leadership, led now by Gramsci who only then opposed Bordiga's positions, which had gained prestige after a succesful recruitment campaign.

Under Distance, choose Linear Unit and enter 600 meters. Under Dissolve Type, select "ALL". This will dissolve any boundaries between buffers and create a single feature from any overlapping buffers. Click OK. ...

salinity
Salinity is the amount of salt dissolved in water.

sediment
Sediment is small particles of soil or rocks that are transported by water or the wind.

Soluble:
Capable of being dissolved; in this case, the characteristic of soil minerals that leads them to be carried away in solution by water (see Leaching).

Light attenuation - Absorption, scattering, or reflection of light by water, chlorophyll a, dissolved substances, or particulate matter. Light attenuation reduces the amount of light available to submerged aquatic vegetation.

erosion -- n. The processes by which materials of the Earth's crust are worn away, loosened, or dissolved while being transported from their place of origin.
erratic -- n. A large, isolated boulder left behind by a glacier.

Scroll down and make sure to choose Dissolve to ALL (but be aware of what this does by looking at Show Help).

To reduce a multi-part FMU to a single record in the DBF, perform a GIS dissolve using the FMU_Name field (assuming that all polygons are labeled with the same FMU name). If you don't know how to do this process, contact your GIS specialist.
