Socio-economic data may be available at a variety of scales, for example: municipalities, regional districts, census tracts, enumeration districts, or at the provincial/state level.

 


Census 2001 was the first to use this system - previously census data was published for larger Enumeration Districts which were delineated before the census was conducted.

e.g. changes occur occasionally in county boundaries
e.g. census enumeration districts are redefined for each census (see Redistricting in Unit 56)
difficult to assemble longitudinal data for such units due to changing geography ...
