Filtering: Process of removing unwanted components from tabular or spatial data.
In vector spatial database, a variety of smoothing algorithms used to reduce file size by removing excessive turning points along a linear feature.

[edit] Filtering as a basic requirement
Any measurement is always biased with disturbances from ambient radiation out of electrical units with switches, from other wireless units and from stationary equipment as computers.

Parallel filtering happens in such a way that the original raster map layer category values are used to produce the new category value.

They now feature enhanced filtering features such as filtering from a user definable tree view, filter as you type, filtering from pull-downs on each field heading, and a new advanced filter panel.

Observation in philosophical terms is the process of filtering sensory information through the thought process. Input is received via hearing, sight, smell, taste, or touch and then analyzed through either rational or irrational thought.

A 135x135 filter matrix was used for carrying out the digital filtering. Using the medium latitude of the area, this matrix corresponds to a 124 km (North-South) by 84 km (East-West) block.

One example of highly specialized GIS work at ORNL was Ed Ti nnel's development, in cooperation with Bill Hinze of Purdue University , of spatial filtering, interpolation, ...

And finally, enabling MAC filtering on your WAP allows you to designate and restrict which computers can connect to your WAP. The MAC (Media Access Control) address is the unique ID assigned to your computer’s network interface card.

These procedures include contrast and color manipulations and spatial-filtering methods (Schowengerdt 1983).

Perform filtering and alerting based on attributes of the data or spatial positions (geofencing).
Log data into ArcGIS for Server or distribute it directly to clients including ArcGIS for Desktop Tracking Analyst extension or Web clients.

is a collection of ~50 UNIX tools that allow users to manipulate data sets, including filtering, trend fitting, gridding, projecting, etc. and produce Encapsulated Postscript File (EPS) illustrations. GMT supports 20 common map projections.

The user is now able to style their vector layers in OpenLayers using filtering to style by attributes. The user should also understand how to label their polygons based off attribute columns values.

2. New function to convert 1-bit monochrome black and white images to 8-bit grayscale. For an 8-bit grayscale image, advanced image processing functions, such as smoothing, filtering, thresholding, and noise removal can be applied.

Manipulation of the point-dependent density of an image to bring out or emphasize certain features of the image. These operations may include stretching (ratioing, contrast stretching, edge enhancement, filtering) and/or smoothing to improve the ...
