Flow direction
To calculate a drainage network or watersheds, a grid must exist that is coded for the direction in which each cell in a surface drains.
Flow directions are computed using either the MFD (Multiple Flow Direction) model or the SFD (Single Flow Direction, or D8) model, illustrated below.

Now we will use flow directions to find the creeks, streams. We can accumulate flow directions, the number of cells from which water flows to a cell are counted during the accumulation.
At low A/thresh the resulting power will be close to one and the multiple flow direction algorithm will be invoked. As the cells approach the specified CIT value a straighter flow direction will occur.
In hydrological analyses, a digital elevation model (DEM) is the basis for computing water flow directions. However, irregularities in the data can perturb the results so that computed water flows wander in and out of known stream channels.

Network database in which flow direction within a link is a determinate. All linear features are "drawn" according to their real world direction to better support gravity network simulation transactions.

The resistance of a tee or cross is determined automatically based on a rounding ratio, flow direction, and flow rate for each leg of the tee. You can override automatic losses at any component.
The long axis of a drumlin parallels the flow direction of the ice.
Dune:
A mound or ridge of wind-blown sand. Typically found in deserts and inland from a beach. Many dunes are moved by the wind.
