GBF/DIMEFor the 1980 census, the U.S. Census Bureau produced Geographic Base Files (GBF) and Dual Independent Map Encoding (DIME) files, containing census geographic statistical codes and coordinates of line segments for most metropolitan areas.

Geographic Base File/dual Independent Map Encoding (GBF/DIME) - A data exchange format developed by the US Census Bureau to convey information about block-face/street address ranges related to 1980 census tracts.

even data structures such as GBF/DIME and chaincodes have been called data models (Peuquet 1990)
While all of these definitions are clearly related and similar, they are by no means synonymous.

DIME See GBF/DIME. directed network A network in which each arc has an associated direction of flow.
