Intersection Matching
One of the easiest and perhaps most accurate methods of geocoding a location is using an intersection. Using the same U.S.

intersect: The topological integration of two spatial data sets that preserves features that fall within the spatial extent common to both input data sets.

Intersect
The Intersect operation is similar to the other overlay commands, but only areas which are common between the two inputs are included in the output.

intersection method
a method of determining the horizontal position of a point by observations from two or more points of known position, thus measuring directions that intersect at the station being located.

The Intersect
In this procedure, the layer to intersect is 'Blockgroup2000' and the overlay layer is the output of our last dissolve function.

Intersecting waves are strongly expressed in this Terra ASTER (sensor) image of waters in the Bay of Bengal east of India.

Intersection points are written to 'points' map.
Break lines
v.clean will break the lines where they cross, creating new node if needed. Example:
v.in.ascii -n out=crossed_lines format=standard ...

Intersection matches: join source records whose key value (a shape) intersects the destination record's key value (also a shape). (ArcView cannot do this.) ...

INTERSECTION
The point at which one line crosses another. In GIS there are a number of contexts in which this is used, for example, in polygon overlay analysis to create the intersection of two area features. Intersection of two lines.

Intersect: Test whether two geodetic objects intersect.
Outside: Test whether two geodetic objects do not intersect.
Inside: Test whether one geodetic object is inside another.
Within: Test whether two geodetic objects are within certain distance.

intersection connector
A character used in address data to indicate that an address is located at an intersection. For example, in the address "S. Huntington Dr. & E. Clark Blvd." the ampersand (&) character is the intersection connector.

Intersect - The topological overlay of two coverages that preserves feature falling within the spatial extent common to both coverages.

The intersections of the equatorial and ecliptic planes with the celestial dome are great circles known as the celestial equator and the ecliptic respectively.

The intersection of a township line with a range line is called a township corner, of a section line with another section, township or range line a section corner, and a point halfway between two section corners a quarter corner.

Overshoot That portion of a line digitized past its intersection with another line. Sometimes referrred to as a dangling line.
P
Parallel
A property of two or more lines that are separated at all points by the same distance.

114 a distance within which intersections and points will be treated as coincident. To be processed correctly, the fuzzy tolerance cannot be handled immediately (otherwise a point might be moved twice and beyond its original tolerance).

South Pole Surface location defined by the intersection of the polar axis with Earth's surface in the Southern Hemisphere. This location has a latitude of 90° South. Space (1) A distance, area, or volume.

It often identifies where a polygon does not close properly (e.g., undershoot), where arcs don't connect properly, or where an arc was digitized past its intersection with another arc (i.e., overshoot). A dangling arc is not always an error.

A drainage pattern in which stream channels develop within a large-scale network of intersecting joints. This drainage pattern is characterized by right-angle bends in the channels of streams and streams that intersect at right angles.

mean high water line Intersection of the land with the water surface at the elevation of high water.

The bisectors will intersect with each other. Now we can select on each bisector the nearest to the sample point two intersections, determining the cell.

An intersect overlay defines the area where both inputs overlap and retains a set of attribute fields for each. A symmetric difference overlay defines an output area that includes the total area of both inputs except for the overlapping area.

The origin of each UTM zone is the intersection of its central meridian and the equator, and the parameters are applied to this origin to make it convenient to work with making all x and y values positive, or reducing their range.

Given any two points on the sphere, there is a great circle that connects them -- just intersect the sphere with the plane determined by the two given points together with the center of the sphere.

There are thousands of different map projections all depending on how they intersect earth's surface and how they are oriented.

The point where the three lines intersect on the map is where you are. Depending on how accurate your sightings were and how accurately you drew your lines through the features, there will probably be a some error in your location.

Unique in the industry, intersecting members are automatically coped or cut back from supporting members with user-definable clearance, and-if necessary-rotated to the slope angle of their supports.

The intersections of the parallel lines on inside bends are clipped and the intersection is used as the common end point. Gaps on outside bends present a different problem. Some systems simply fill the gaps with a new line segment.

The intersection of two directional lines, each formed by a radial from a base station, define a unique position for the terminal. At minimum the AOA of two base stations should be measured.

Instead, we should try to find the line where two prints would intersect if they were arranged to be tangent to the sphere. This line is equidistant from the centers of the two prints.

Considering the globe, the usual point of origin is the equator and the prime meridian intersect (400 miles (643km) south of Accra, Ghana in the Gulf of Guinea).

GigaPop the regional node/ intersection where a number of high-speed information transmission networks "meet" i.e. are connected.

If you want to correct the symbols individually, the Line Editor/Intersection Symbol option is the tool to use. Start the Line Editor, and switch to the Intersection Symbol editing mode.

Spatial data is a term used synonymously with geographic data elements that describe a geographic area (parcels, streets, intersections, railroads, drainage, sidewalks, fences, driveways, buildings, cultural features, as well as coordinates, ...

This is a system of intersecting perpendicular lines, which contains two principal axes, called the X- and Y--axis.

Adding a 3rd axis (z), which intersects the plane formed by the x and y axis at a right angle, ...

Other geographic operators commonly available in GIS packages are intersection, point in polygon, area in area, and other expressions of interrelationships between geographic entities that can be used to select, reject, merge, ...

* A line serves as the most common feature in man-made urban environments: if the laser scanning beam intersects with a wall of a building, this intersection creates a line in the scan image.

Lines of latitude and longitude are parallel intersecting at 90 degrees. Meridians are equidistant. Forms a rectangular map. Scale along the equator or standard parallels is true. Simple construction.

ridgeline - A line representing the intersection or top between opposite slopes. Commonly used as a parcel line.
satellite imagery - Imagery that is collected using a space-borne remote system that is in orbit around the Earth.

The GPS receiver must change the size of the spheres until the intersection point is determined.

Overlay: A formal geometric intersection between two or more layers of spatially referenced data. A layer produced by an overlay will contain both the spatial data and the attribute data from the input layers.
