GIS Isogonic lineIsopleth map

Isoline maps: Isoline maps are based on the assumption that the phenomenon to be represented has a continuous distribution and smoothly changes in value in all directions of the plane.

Isolines can also be used to delineate qualitative differences. An isogloss, for example, is used in mapping the geographic spread of linguistic features.

Isoline
In line on a map connecting points at which the values within the data being mapped are equal.

isoline
A line connecting points of equal value on a map. Isolines fall into two classes: those in which the values actually exist at points, such as temperature or elevation values, and those in which the values are ratios that exist over areas, ...

Contours (isolines)
Filled contours
Regular grid (All models allow data averaging in each cell; block interpolation.)
Hillshading
Combination of several options above ...

30 a general term covering those measurement frameworks that use a specific attribute value as a control to obtain spatial measurements; includes spatial object and isoline frameworks. isoline p.

A DEM normally consists of a regular matrix of elevation values, from which altitude functions such as slope and aspect can be calculated, and which may be rendered for visualisation as isolines (contours), perspective or panoramic views, etc.

For example, a GIS can quickly generate a map with isolines that indicate the pH of soil from test points (figs. 14 and 15). Such a map can be thought of as a soil pH contour map.

A contour line is an isoline that connects all points on the Earth's surface that have the same elevation. On topographic maps, contour lines are drawn at a uniform vertical distance known as the contour interval. Many maps also use index contours.

Split net to bands between cost isolines (direction from centre). Centre node must be opened (costs
= 0). Costs of centre node are used in calculation
v.net.path
Find shortest path on vector network.

RM Bridge enables users to work with an array of project information - alignment data, vertical profiles, digital terrain models (DTM), isolines (contours), coordinate geometry (COGO), and surface point data - in DGN, DWG, ...

Usually the input and output datasets are grids, but they can also be vector datasets, such as polygonal zones or isoline layers.

isoline A line on a surface connecting points of equal value. item A column of information in an attribute table, for example, a single attribute of a record in an INFO data file.
