A relatively unstructured relationship between two software components or programs that work together to process data, which requires little overlap between methods, ontologies, class definitions, and so on.
loosely coupled replication ...

"Loose coupling" is described as sharing files between systems with separate interfaces (relying on manual resolution of differences in the data representation);
"Tight coupling" as enabling the shared files to be used in either interface.
