Macros

Macros - Macros allow you to place a group of drawing objects in one step.

Macros are collections of frequently used commands which are grouped together in a file. Instead of entering commands individually, users can call the macro and the commands stored therein will be executed automatically.

Macros
Sequence of commands executed as one command.
Series of specialized procedures or instructions in a computer language that can be replaced by a set of instructions which customize and streamline basic software functions.

NOTE: Macros or queries are created for a number of reasons. For example, an automated system might be used to produce maps and reports which recommend and lead to construction of an additional elementary school in a school district.

ArcGIS scripts are macros written in Avenue, ArcGIS's programming language and development environment.

Macros are usually stored in a text file and invoked from a program that reads the text files as if the commands were typed interactively. Many-To-One Relate A relate in which many records can be related to a single record.

You can use this methodology with a block manager, but menu macros that go straight to the filenames in your classified folders are much faster. What you really want to do is memorize the file names.
