In the many-to-one relationship, more than one record in the source table may have a common value with only a single record in another table. An example of this is a table containing stand attributes, including a species code.

Join establishes a one-to-one or many-to-one relationship between the destination table and the source table. It is an easy way to add the attribute data from other resources to your map.

Many-to-One: For every record in the child table, there is more than one record in the core table with a matching ID in indexing fields (i.e. Parcel Record and Zoning Ordinance Description - common field: Zoning Ordinance Number).
