Mesh Point

GIS Meridian of longitudeMetadata

mesh pointOne sample point in the array of sample points in a lattice. Each mesh point is located at a constant sampling interval in the x and y directions relative to a common origin, and contains the z value for the surface at that location.

lattice A surface representation that uses a rectangular array of mesh points spaced at a constant sampling interval in the x and y directions relative to a common origin.

A representation of a surface using an array of regularly spaced sample points (mesh points) that are referenced to a common origin and have a constant sampling distance in the x and y directions.

Adding these two equations and setting the result equal to zero, yields the condition that the value at any mesh point must be equal to the average of its neighbors. This is another way of defining what is known technically as a 'harmonic' function.

The generic ASCII raster file is a single file composed of 6 lines of header (descriptive and georeferencing) data, followed by lattice mesh point (grid cell) values.

must be smoothed, simplified, or not shown at all. 2. The size of the smallest feature that can be represented in a surface. 3. The number of points in x and y in a grid (e.g., the resolution of a USGS one-degree DEM is 1.201 x 1.201 mesh points).
