It occurs when you have a (master) table linking to multiple tables in a one-to-many relationship.

 


Relates are used mainly to form relationships between tables that have a one-to-many relationship (although they can also be used for one-to-one and one-to-many relationships as well).

In order to find the residential area OF eachblock-group, we need to create a one-to-one or a one-to-many relationship between block group polygons and inhabited polygons.
