Each image also has between 50 and 300 meters of overedge to facilitate tonal matching for mosaicking of adjacent images. Orthophotos combine the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map.

 


Each DOQ has between 50 and 300 meters of overedge image beyond the latitude and longitude corner crosses embedded in the image. This overedge facilitates tonal matching and mosaicking adjacent images.

Without overedge data at map neatline edges void data tends to restrict the correct formation of the triangle at the edge. Figure 8 is an example of this problem when editing did not correct the problem.

overedge Any portion of a map lying outside the nominal map border (neatline).
