RPCA Remote Procedure Call (RPC) is a communication mechanism which allows one UNIX process to communicate with another UNIX process. These communicating processes can be on different computers over a network.
This is specific to Windows only (RPC, Remote Procedure Calls, is used in the UNIX environment). DDE is supported in ArcView Version 2 for the exchange of data with other business applications without having to convert the data or leave ArcView.
The second method involves the use of some form of remote procedure call to a submodel. This method is employed in ARC/INFO's Advanced Macro Language (AML).
It also defines a way to perform remote procedure calls (RPCs) using HTTP as the underlying communication protocol. Development of SOAP is in the care of the W3C`s XML Protocols Working Group.
