Semi-variogram

GIS Sedimentary rockSensor

The vectors C0 are different for each new point to be interpolated, the coefficients ci,j have to be computed from the interpolated (theoretical) semi-variogram.

They suggest the use of preliminary sampling to obtain a working semi-variogram from which a method for optimal samp ling may be designed for best interpolation results. See Trangmar et al.

- Burgess, T. and R. Webster, 1980. "Optimal Interpolation and Isarithmic Mapping of Soil Properties: The Semi-Variogram and Punctual Kriging," Journal of Soil Science, 31: 315-31.

are Linear interpolation, which effectively runs a straight line between the points with altitude values, the Cubic Spline, which interpolates a smooth curve through the given data points, and Statistical interpolation using Kriging semi-variograms.
