The effectiveness of change detection studies of natural disturbances may be significantly affected by temporal, spatial, and spectral resolution of the data, as well as the availability of ancillary (relevant GIS coverages) and ground truth data.

Lee (1991) described many of the advantages of videography: (1) imagery can be captured by microcomputer for immediate use; (2) in-flight error-proofing can be done; (3) narrow-band filters for fine spectral resolution can be used; ...

Spectral resolution refers to the number of different frequency bands recorded - usually, this is equivalent to the number of sensors carried by the platform(s).

The spectral resolution encompasses seven bands that range from visible blue to thermal infrared. Included is a Mid Infrared (MIR) band. Please note band seven is out of the spectral sequence because it was added after band 6 had been developed.
