[surveying] An elevation measurement taken at a single location.

Spot elevation A point on a map where height above mean sea level is noted, usually by a dot and elevation value; it is shown wherever practical (road intersections, summits, lakes, large flat areas and depressions).

2. Spot elevations read throughout the file to provide an independent check of the DTM and / or generated contours. [NB DTM Users Guide]
Chip
An integrated circuit device including its encapsulating package and circuit terminations.

41 a framework for recording spot elevations in a regular rectangular grid (matrix); an acronym originally created from Digital Elevation Model at US Geological Survey.

Zhang and Montgomery (1994) calculated slope, drainage area per unit contour length, and the topographic index for a series of depressionless square-grid DEMs at scales of 2, 4, 10, 30, and 90 m using the GRID tools in ARC/INFO and spot elevation ...

Spot elevations along the hill help us to model the grade of the stream. by adding these to our masspoits layer, making sure to snap them to the vertices of the stream. Our Edit TIN model interprets these as Masspoints.

well under the following circumstances: 1) the contour lines extend to the the edge of the current region, 2) the program is run at the same resolution as that of the input map, 3) there are no disjointed contour lines, and 4) no spot elevation data ...

Public Land Survey System (PLSS) (including township, range, and section information); (5) hypsography, including contours and supplemental spot elevation; (6) vegetative surface cover, including woods, scrubs, orchards, vineyards, ...

spot elevation Point on a map or chart whose height above a specified datum is noted, usually by a dot or a small sawbuck and elevation value.

A map depicting terrain relief showing ground elevation, usually through either contour lines or spot elevations. The map represents the horizontal and vertical positions of the features represented.

Elevation contours, measured spot elevations, streams, and lakes in this map have all been used as input to create a surface.

Users can enter elevation data automatically using 2D & 3D CAD features, digital-elevations models and spot elevations; use CAD drawings to directly create hydraulically connected models; import topology and data from GIS; and create persistent, ...

Hypsography - Contours and supplementary spot elevations
Non-vegetative features - Glacial moraine, lava, sand, and gravel
Survey control and markers - Horizontal and vertical monuments (third order or better) ...

Z-value The elevation value of a surface at a particular x, y location. May also be referred to as a spot height or spot elevation.

Interpolate - Applied to logical contouring by determining vertical distances between given spot elevations.

z-value The value of a surface at a particular x,y location (e.g., elevation). Often referred to as spot values or spot elevations. zoom To enlarge and display greater detail of a portion of a geographic data set.

Thus, no elevation data is recorded. In practice this would include lines such as edge of pavement and building foot prints, etc., but would not include such things as contour lines, spot elevations, etc.

The 1:100,000 scale series is unusual in that it employs the Metric system primarily. One centimeter on the map represents one kilometer of distance on the ground. Contour intervals, spot elevations, ...

Acceptable test points include, in order of preference: field control, aerotriangulated test points, spot elevations, or points on contours from existing source maps with appropriate contour interval.
