Stratigraphy

GIS StormCADStrike

The construction of computational grids which accurately reflect complex geologic structure and stratigraphy for flow and transport models poses a formidable task.

stratigraphy -- n. The study of rock layers, especially their distribution, environment of deposition, and age; stratigraphic, adj.
stratum -- A layer of sedimentary rock; plural is strata.

stratigraphy The succession and age relation of layered rocks.
stratovolcano (composite volcano) A volcano that is composed of alternating layers of lava and pyroclastic material, along with abundant dikes and sills.

Stratigraphy:
The study of sedimentary rock units, including their geographic extent, age, classification, characteristics and formation.
Stratovolcano:
A volcanic cone made up of alternating layers of lava flows and pyroclastics.

Specify surface terrain and subsurface stratigraphy in front of, behind, and beneath the wall or structure, including local terrain variations that influence the resistance forces acting in front of the wall ...

A layer of dieposits found on archaeological excavation isolated as a single context in the stratigraphy of the site
A layer hen, a hen raised to produce eggs.
In abstraction, a layer is an abstract place conceived as having depth.

Various geological data are rendered as contour maps in structural geology, sedimentology, stratigraphy and economic geology.

Subdisciplines within geology proper include structural geology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, mineralogy (study of minerals), petrology (study of rocks), geomorphology (study of landforms), ...
