transgression -- (n) A rise in sea level relative to the land. tuff -- n. A general term for consolidated rocks made of material ejected from volcanic explosions.
Transgression: An advance of the sea over land areas. Possible causes include a rise in sea level or subsidence. Transpiration: A process of plants removing water from the soil and releasing it into the atmosphere through their leaves.
cyclothem A series of beds, of interest because they include coal, which were associated with unstable shelf or interior basin conditions in which alternating marine transgressions and regressions occurred.
