TRAVERSE
Traversing is a form of a control survey that is used in a wide variety of surveys. Traverses are a series of established stations that are linked together by the angle and distance between adjacent points.

traverse
A predefined path or route across or over a set of geometric coordinates.

As Spirit traversed the West Spur, it encountered a rock nicknamed "Wishstone" whose appearance enticed the JPL team to decide to investigate it in some detail. The RAT was used to cut into its surface.

For small projects Traversing is often used with 'Total Station' equipment. Variations on triangulation and trilateration are also often used on small surveys, particularly to measure to inaccessible points.

The equator traverses the land and/or water of 13 countries in total:

Arctic Passage Traversed by Merchant Ships

The Publish Client traverses the folder you have selected in the ArcCatalog window and attempts to publish any metadata documents with the file extension .xml to the geoportal you specified.

Impedance The amount of resistance (or cost) required to traverse through a portion of a network such as a line, or through one cell in a grid system.

impedance The amount of resistance (or cost) required to traverse a line from its origin node to its destination node or to make a turn (i.e., move from one arc through a node onto another arc).

200 algorithms to traverse a tree that explore the structure by enumerating each level totally before moving to a finer level; as opposed to enumerating each path from the root to the 'leaves' (depth-first). buffer p.

accumulation Output map: The absolute value of each cell in this output map layer is the amount of overland flow that traverses the cell. This value will be the number of upland cells plus one if no overland flow map is given.

The distinguishing feature of connectivity operations is that they use functions that accumulate values over an area being traversed. Most often these include the analysis of surfaces and networks.

Cross-sectional views of all wells within a one mile wide traverse in east-west and north-south directions were generated with an in-house program. Each distinct unit described in the driller's well logs was categorized by lithology (e.g.

Further, a traditional traverse program can be used to manually enter a series of bearings and ranges to generate positions until satellite signals can again be received.

Within the states that Lewis and Clark traversed on their way to the Pacific, the number of places named Jefferson. They are: Jeffersonville, Ill.; Jefferson, Iowa; Jefferson City, Mo.; Jefferson, S.D.; Jefferson City, Mont.; and Jefferson, Ore.

Under the same movement direction and friction conditions, a "slow" mover will take longer to traverse a given cell. Or, if the friction is in dollars, an "expensive" mover will cost more to traverse a given cell (e.g.

Coordinate Geometry (COGO) functions are typically used by land surveyors to enter traverses around spatial features such as parcels, to calculate precise locations and boundaries sing distances and bearings from reference points, ...

Route - Routes usually define specific paths along a line segment or multiple line segments. For example, the portion(s) of a street that are traversed in order to get from location "A" to location "B" including the direction traveled.

These concepts refer to the "effort it takes to get from A to B, such as the square traversed was knee deep mud (or a lake) across the diagonal but dry at the perimeter. It would be farther, but easier to again go the extra distance.

The equinoctial points in this time traverse the whole ecliptic and they move 1° in a century. This velocity is equal to that calculated by Hipparchus. Because of these accordances Delambre, P.

Internet Protocol (IP) - The most important of the protocols on which the Internet is based. It allows a packet to traverse multiple networks on the way to its final destination.

method of land surveying in which the boundaries of land parcels are recorded in terms of relative direction and distance. Local landmarks and natural environmental features may serve as points of origin and destination along a given traverse.

For example, to find an optimal path between two points requires a list of the arcs that connect to each other and the cost to traverse each arc in each direction. Coordinates are only needed for drawing the path after it is calculated.

Store survey measurements, points and computations in a GIS database for future analysis and reuse.
Perform survey computations such as traverse and least squares adjustments using the original raw observations.
