z-value The value for a given surface location that represents an attribute other than position.
Depending on your needs, you may want to check the Z-value box. A Z-value is a vertical elevation- compare to X and Y.

In the vector model, the z-value is either stored as an additional attribute column or within the feature's geometry itself. This model uses points with x,y, and z values as the input to a 3D surface and interpolates values in between these points.

X,y,z data can be imported and used for putting the data into a grid. For bathymetric data, z-values can be inverted to take care of positive values. Custom projection can also be applied dynamically while converting this data.
