GIS Z-AxisZenithal Projection

zenith telescope Instrument for observing starts near the zenith (a point on the celestial sphere directly above the observer's position). ground below the water table where all the pores in rock, sediment, and soil are filled with water ...

zenith
the point where an infinite extension of a plumb (vertical) line, at the observer's position, pierces the celestial sphere above the observer's head
zenith distance ...

zenith
In astronomy, the point on the celestial sphere directly above an observer. Both the zenith and nadir lie on the observer's meridian; the zenith lies 180 degrees from the nadir, and is observable.

Zenith Radio Company bought Heath Company from Schlumberger in 1979, renaming the computer division Zenith Data Systems (ZDS). Zenith was in the vanguard of companies to start selling personal computers to small businesses.

Also called zenithal. Show true directions from single tangent point; in polar aspects all parallels are circular, and meridians straight lines uniformly spaced; unclipped map is circular.

3 Solar zenith angle effect
Missing data exist in the North/South America 1-km data as a result of masking for large solar zenith angle (SZA).

[remote sensing] Any point not directly beneath a scanner's detectors, but rather off at an angle.

Eratosthenes knew that on the summer solstice at local noon in Syene, the Sun would appear at the zenith. He also knew that in his hometown of Alexandria, the position of the Sun would be 7° south of the zenith at that time.

Tropospheric delay as a function of the observation zenith angle, [Z.sub.p.sup.r], (90[degrees] minus the elevation angle) is calculated using appropriate mapping functions.

The AZIMUTHAL family of projections, also called ZENITHAL or PLANAR, is produced by transforming the Earth's surface onto a plane. Members of the family are distinguished from each other by the different perspective points used to construct them.

"Our project involves the complete virtual reconstruction of the city at its zenith under Emperor Constantine, when it had about one million residents.

The five common azimuthal (also known as Zenithal) projections are the Stereographic projection, the Orthographic projection, the Lambert azimuthal equal-area projection, ...

Other satellite navigation providers are adopting L1C as a future standard for international interoperability. Japan's Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS), the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), ...

Mathematical Translations ~ scalar arithmetic, logarithmic, trigonometric, and logical operations; example use of taking the cosine of the zenith angle formed between the sun's position and each elevation surface element to calculate insolation ...

A map projection on which the azimuths of all points are shown correctly with respect to the center (Snyder 1987, p. 4). A plane tangent to one of the Earth's poles is the basis for polar azimuthal projection. The term "zenithal" is an older one for ...

View angle and illumination geometry (solar zenith and azimuth angles) are important determinants of the measured reflectance since adjustments in observation and illumination geometry result in different sampling of the bidirectional reflectance ...

are not based on the cylinder, including conical projections (based on the model of a cone, placed with its vertex immediately above one of the poles) and entirely separate families of projections such as two-world equal area projections and zenithal ...
