Albatross: If you get one of these, ring up the newspapers or TV station and you'll become famous. An albatross is playing a hole in three under par. That means taking only two shots on a par five hole or getting a hole-in-one on a par four.

albatross Scoring three under par is generally referred to as "Albatross". It follows the 'bird' theme for shots below par: birdie for one under par and eagle for two under (see below).

Albatross or Double Eagle -This is one of those very rare birds in golf that is one shot better than an Eagle. Do you realize that this would take a hole in one on a par 4 or only two shots to the cup on a par five.

Albatross: Three-under-par (-3). Also known as a double-eagle. These are very rare, and most commonly occur on par-fives with a strong drive and a holed approach shot. Holes-in-one on par-four holes (generally short ones) are also albatrosses.
