It's no secret that the bent grass greens common to the northern tier of the United States putt much differently than the Bermuda grass of the South.

A brush is really a bunch of combs clamped together so the teeth are all pointed parallel. A brush with only a few fine and short bristles sparsely but orderly arranged would move through the bent grass of a green fairly nicely.

But if you're playing on slick bent grass, the putt may break three feet! After a few attempts, you'll soon dial in how far out to the left or right you should play a breaking putt on that day.
