Best Ball - A match in which one player competes against the better score of two or more other players. It is not a fourball. Traditionally a team consists of two players.

Moe Norman was considered by many to be the best ballstriker of all time. Even Ben Hogan was once quoted as saying that "Moe was the only guy that I would walk across the street to watch hit balls.

Let's face it, Hogan was the best ball striker and had the best swing of all time. He may have been a little more flexible than most and he certainly worked harder than anyone else, but as I see it, he had two legs, a torso, two arms, and a head.

Some raging fool convinced me that I needed to play in a husband/wife best ball tournament at his club. (Why they call it 'Husband/Wife Best Ball Tournament' is beyond me.

Best Ball---a tournament where teams play against each other. Each person on the team counts his/her own stroke and the person who has the lowest number of strokes counts as the team's score for that hole.

Each player hits a tee shot on. The best ball, as determined by the captain, is selected for the second shot. Each member of the team hits his or her shot from that spot. The process continues until the hole is played out.
